Chief Michael A. Register, (Ret) is a founding partner of the Centurion Leadership Group and has been in public service for over 40 years. Michael retired from the Trent Woods Police Department in 2012 after 30 years of service. He served as the agency’s Chief of Police for 9 years.

He continued serving the profession by joining the North Carolina Department of Justice, Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division. He served the division for 6 years as a Field Services Representative. His duties consisted of working with over 100 different law enforcement agencies and 20 different Community Colleges. Michael worked with the executive leadership of these agencies to complete assessments of their training programs and assist them through the accreditation process for the several different training programs that are regulated by the division. Michael left the agency in 2019 and joined the law enforcement training faculty at Rowan Cabarrus Community College where he creates and facilitates advanced law enforcement training classes and programs. Michael works in the Instructor Training program where he teaches and evaluates new instructors.

Michael has served in numerous leadership positions in nonprofit and professional organizations. Michael is a life member of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police and a Past Board Member of the North Carolina Police Executives Association. Michael currently serves on the board of directors of the Masonic Fraternity in North Carolina. This organization has 34,000 members. The board supports and oversees the management of several multimillion-dollar charities, including the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, Masonic and Eastern Star Home, (Whitestone), in Greensboro, and The North Carolina Masonic Foundation. Michael serves as the Dean of Admissions for the fraternity’s leadership college where he is a faculty member that teaches Communications, Strategic Planning, Membership Selection, and Retention, and various other leadership classes.

Michael is a member of the Sudan Shriners, Scottish Rite Bodies, and York Rite bodies. He has managed numerous fundraising events for these organizations and assisted in training their leadership. Michael is an accomplished speaker who travels the state speaking about fraternalism, leadership, and self-development.

Michael and his wife of 26 years Ann, live in Asheboro, NC. They are members of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in King, NC.
